Kennedy Offers A Safe Space

Kennedy offers a safe space for you to enjoy, well, space. Kennedy Space Center takes your safety very seriously. During this phase of reopening, guests are invited to explore more of the NASA story by reopening all main visitor complex attractions including the IMAX Theater, Shuttle Launch Experience, and Universe Theater. As part of their commitment to creating a Trusted Space for guests and employees, the following measures and procedures are in place:

  • Opening with limited attendance and encouraging advance daily admission purchases
  • Requiring face coverings for employees and guests
  • Accommodating social distancing in queues, restaurants, and other facilities throughout the visitor complex
  • Currently, all theaters and shows are closed. Beginning July 6th, 2020, all theaters and pre-shows will open in a limited capacity to promote social distancing.
  • Requiring temperature screenings of all employees and guests prior to entry
  • Implementing increased frequency of sanitization and disinfection.
  • Changing operating hours to 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. to allow more time for cleaning and sanitizing.
  • While Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex is implementing new measures and procedures, please remember that there is an inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 in any public place where people are present.

Guest Health and Safety Measures

Face Coverings
Face coverings are required during your visit, in accordance with the CDC’s recommendations. Face coverings should fit snugly, covering both your mouth and nose. Please wear a face covering while at the visitor complex, except while eating. If needed, face coverings will be available for purchase at the front entrance.

Temperature Screenings
All guests are required to undergo temperature screenings upon arrival at Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex. Based on guidance from health authorities, anyone displaying a temperature of 100.4 F will not be allowed entry; those in their party will not be allowed entry either.

Physical Distancing
They have added new physical-distancing practices to ensure Kennedy offers a safe space:

  • The number of guests entering Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex will be limited.
  • All guests entering must have a dated daily admission ticket.
  • Dining-controlled capacity in Orbit Cafe and six-foot separation between tables. Other available dining options include Rocket Fuel Truck at the front entrance and Atlantis Space Dots and Ice Cream Cart, in front of Space Shuttle Atlantis®.
  • Posted signage and floor markers to encourage physical distancing in dining, retail, and attraction areas.
  • Currently, all theaters and shows are closed. Beginning July 6th, 2020, all theaters and pre-shows will open in a limited capacity to promote social distancing.
  • Separate entry and exit points with directional markers in dining and attraction areas.

Sanitization
They have implemented stringent cleaning and safety practices to support the health and wellness of crewmembers and guests. Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex is also increasing the routine cleaning of frequently touched surfaces in the workplace and at workstations, countertops, doorknobs, etc. Hand sanitizer stations are available at various locations throughout Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex for you to use during your visit. You can also purchase hand sanitizer at the Space Shop.

Cashless Transactions
They have implemented touchless credit card transactions. A signature is not required for purchases made by credit card.

Crewmember Health and Safety Measures

  • Employees are required to wear face coverings.
  • Employees will undergo temperature-screening procedures upon arrival to work.
  • Special employee meetings to review the latest health and safety information.
  • Employees are encouraged to stay home and take care of themselves if they are sick.
  • Increased signage in bathrooms, eateries, and food prep areas reminding employees and visitors to wash hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
  • Our management continues to work closely with local, state, and federal experts on this topic to ensure that we are up-to-date on the situation as it evolves.

Explore More Tickets

Explore more of the NASA story, today and tomorrow. Guests who purchase admission for the main visitor complex reopening phase will receive a return ticket for 2021 when the visitor complex is fully re-opened.

To help ensure they are not exceeding capacity, all guests will be required to purchase date and a time-specific ticket for entry. Contact information is required for all ticket purchases and reservations. Daily admission will be $57 plus tax for adults and $47 plus tax for children during this phase. Admission will include entry to Space Shuttle Atlantis with Shuttle Launch Experience, Journey to Mars, IMAX Theatre, and more. In addition to admission to the visitor complex, you will receive a complimentary admission ticket valid for use beginning January 1, 2021, through December 25, 2021. Blackout dates apply.

Looking for a special experience? Take a space expert-led walking tour through Heroes & Legends, Rocket Garden, Nature and Technology, Journey to Mars: Explorers Wanted, NASA Now, Space Shuttle Atlantis, and Astronaut Training Experience. This tour is $20 and includes a boxed lunch.

How You Can Help

  • Please stay home if you feel sick, have a temperature exceeding 100.4 F, or are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms.
  • To help ensure we are not exceeding our capacity, please purchase tickets online, in advance of your visit.
  • Complete the COVID-19 Affirmation when you purchase your daily admission online. During your purchase, you will be asked to provide your contact information including an email address. This information will only be used in the event that contact tracing is necessary and will not be used for marketing purposes.
  • In accordance with the CDC’s recommendations, face coverings are required during your visit. Face coverings should fit snugly, covering both your mouth and nose. Please wear a face covering while at the visitor complex, except while eating. If needed, face coverings will be available for purchase at the front entrance.
  • Maintain physical spacing, follow the directions of signage, floor markers, and crewmembers.
  • Wash your hands frequently. Hand sanitizer stations are located throughout the visitor complex.
  • Bring meals and snacks to avoid congregating in line.

Kennedy Space Center has so much space to offer but can’t offer it all at the moment. For guests health and safety, these attractions and services will not be available:

Programs: Overnight Adventures, Astronaut Training Experience and Mars Base 1
