The Long family started their airboat operation way back in 1994, making them one of Orlando’s original airboat tours. They were instrumental in bringing attention to the actual headwaters of the Florida Everglades which are right here in central Florida. Guests can experience this exciting eco tour just minutes from the world famous attractions – no lines, no parking charges and thrills galore. Not to mention a close up look at the real Florida and some of the ancient cultures that predated Mickey Mouse by a few hundred years!
Over the past two years, the 32 acre Southport Park has undergone a $1 million renovation that includes a complete facility facelift, including newly built and remodeled structures and a landscape overhaul. The exteriors of the buildings are now made of Cypress, cut and milled by Native Americans. Invasive, non-native plants and trees were removed to make way for a wide range of newly planted vegetation native to the area. All changes were made with great care to further restore the park to its indigenous landscape.
For 22 years, over a million visitors have journeyed from across the world to enjoy a front seat view of authentic Florida from the safety of airboats guided by US Coast Guard Certified Master Captains. Now, in partnership with Osceola County, visitors have even more ways to immerse themselves with a look into natural Florida. Guests can expect a warm welcome by local staff and are encouraged to explore the park along brick pathways winding across a lush lawn hugging the shores of Lake Tohopekaliga. Along the way, visitors are met with the mouthwatering scent of smoldering BBQ from the new Boggy Bottom BBQ Restaurant. Cold soda, beer and wine stand ready at the lakeside bar for guests to relax with while waiting for their time on the water.
