For sixty years, it has been a place that inspires curiosity and exploration. Truly one of the great activities in Orlando for families, the Science Center encourages learning in a fun way. For visitors from out of town, Orlando Science Center is a must for your “things to do in Orlando” list. With four floors of exciting exhibits, amazing giant screen movies, and engaging live programming, the Science Center is the perfect family destination. We’re also the ideal rainy day activity – fun for your entire family and completely indoors!

Kids

Kids of all ages can explore the wonders of our galaxy, uncover fossils of prehistoric beasts from ages long past and get up close to Florida’s flora and fauna. For the littlest of learners, be sure to check out KidsTown, an interactive pint-sized city, and All Aboard, where kids travel through their imagination by train, plane and even space shuttle! Don’t forget to see a giant screen film in the Dr. Phillips Cimedome or a 3D movie in the Digital Adventure Theater: A National Geographic Experience.

Exhibit Halls

Orlando Science Center’s exhibit halls feature a vast array of exciting interactive experiences! Learning has never been so fun with these hands-on educational exhibits. From down to earth explorations in natural science to the high-tech world of simulation technology, everywhere you look, you’ll find educational and entertaining opportunities to explore, experiment, and discover.

  • NatureWorks will have you up close and personal with some of nature’s most fascinating reptiles.
  • At DinoDigs, you’ll step back into the prehistoric age.
  • Discover the dynamic forces and systems that shape our Earth, as well as other planets in Our Planet.
  • Explore the fundamentals of forces, such as electricity, gravity, Newton’s Laws and much more in Kinetic Zone.
  • No visit to the Science Center is complete without a trip to KidsTown, an interactive world dedicated to our smaller explorers.

Science Stations

Looking for a little more “hard science” in your next Science Center visit? Look no further than the Science Stations located throughout the facility. Science Stations are a cross between exhibits and live programs in that they’re exhibits that typically include a live program to truly bring the experience to life.

Science Stations provide an in-depth look at their respective subject matter in an entertaining way. Be sure to check your program schedule to see which Science Stations are conducting demonstrations on the day of your next visit.

Science Live

Our exhibits are designed to inspire curiosity and exploration, our Science Live! programs are designed to bring the exhibits to life. Whether it’s a show in the Digital Adventure Theater or a one-to-one interaction with a volunteer at the Crosby Observatory, our live programs create the kind of impact that can last a lifetime.

Science Live! Schedule

Science Live! programs at the Science Center include:

Crosby Observatory

The aluminum-domed Crosby Observatory atop Orlando Science Center houses Florida’s largest publicly accessible refractor telescope. This one-of-a-kind custom-built telescope, along with several smaller scopes, are available at selected times for solar and night sky viewing.

Peer through the powerful, 10-inch lens of the refractor telescope to view the planets, the four moons of Jupiter, the rings of Saturn and deep sky objects such as galaxies, nebulas and double stars.

 


All activities and events in the Crosby Observatory are weather permitting only.

Observatory hours are subject to change based on weather conditions in the area.


 

Movie Theater

Explore worlds unknown, discover fascinating science all around you and spark your imagination in the theaters of the Orlando Science Center! Giant Screen Films will amaze you with images of extraordinary clarity and depth that expand beyond your peripheral vision in the Dr. Phillips CineDome. Plus experience Educational and Hollywood Movies in stunning, immersive 3D and ultra high definition 4K resolution in the Digital Adventure Theater.

The Verdict

If you want to vacate Touristville for half a day then this is a great place for inquiring minds! Loch Haven Park is also a great place for a picnic or a game of soccer so let the kids run off some steam!
