Yet another much vaunted high-flying attraction is finally underway on International Drive. Unicorp National Developments’ Starflyer, a 450-foot swing tower with a 3,500-square-foot building at its base, is officially under construction.
The Starflyer will join the Coca-Cola Orlando Eye at I-Drive 360 as the latest attraction that will take locals and tourists hundreds of feet in the air to give a unique view of the Central Florida tourism area.
Developer Chuck Whittall said tenants are already lined up for the ground floor building, including the Starflyer’s admission and information booth, a cafe/bar, a space occupied by a Westgate timeshare marketing kiosk and a Haagen-Dazs/Wetzel’s Pretzels.
Past plans submitted with Orange County said the ground floor development also will include outdoor tables and other space that may allow guests to relax or await those enjoying the ride.
The Starflyer will be a short walk from I-Drive 360 at the King’s Plaza, the former Gooding’s Plaza, that currently houses businesses like Kings Orlando bowling alley and Sleuths Mystery Dinner Show.
