Guests are invited to make their way through a walking trail, where they can engage with water in a number of ways, from playing musical “rain harps” to creating an ocean wave. Inspired by the 2016 film “Moana,” guests will encounter the character Te Fiti on the walking trail, acting as a protector of water. Other familiar characters are carved into rock formations along the way. And of course, guests can meet Moana in a new space just across from the attraction.
The attraction is available daily during Early Entry from 8:30 am to 9 am for Walt Disney World Resort hotel guests and guests staying at deluxe Walt Disney World Resort hotels during Extended Evening Hours from 9 pm to 11 pm on select days. Operating hours for day guests are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
The Moana attraction is part of a years-long updating of Epcot, located in the World Nature neighborhood. The World Celebration neighborhood is expected to open this December.
Although the walk-through attraction is officially open, Disney says it will continue using a Virtual Queue during busy periods, as it did during the soft-opening period. No Individual Lightning Lane option exists, and Journey of Water is not part of Genie+.
When in operation, the Virtual Queue opens at 8:45 a.m. Guests must have a park reservation for EPCOT and be inside EPCOT to join.
Using the My Disney Experience app, each Guest can request to enter the Journey of Water Virtual Queue once per day during regular park hours.
The Journey of Water Virtual Queue is separate from the Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind Virtual Queue, and joining one does not prevent joining the other.
