Oleta River State Park in North Miami Beach offers a 3-hour full moon guided kayak tour through a peaceful mangrove, to secluded Sandspur Island and the calm waters of the intercoastal on May 2 and 30; June 27; August 1 and 29. Tour includes kayak, paddle, PDF, smores kit, campfire, water, and lemonade. Oleta River State Park contains more than 1,000 acres of a natural waterway oasis with spectacular views of lush mangroves and Biscayne Bay, offering paddling, bicycling, fishing, picnicking and more. Located between the Oleta River and Biscayne Bay, it is South Florida’s largest urban park and go-to destination for outdoor adventures in North Miami Beach.

Dr. Von D. Mizell-Eula Johnson State Park in Dania Beach offers a 1.5-hour full moon guided kayak paddle May 2 and 30, June 27, Aug 1 and 29, going through peaceful mangroves and the intercoastal waterways. Tour includes kayak, paddle, PDF, smores kit, campfire, water, and lemonade. This beachside park just south of Port Everglades is the last example of an undeveloped coastal ecosystem in Broward County. The park is named for Civil Rights Movement leaders who led “wade-in” protests to desegregate South Florida beaches in the 1950s and 1960s. Now, the park is a popular location for swimming, fishing, boating, hiking, bicycling, and picnicking, offering a haven where everyone can escape the hectic pace of the metropolis and reconnect with nature.

Blue Spring State Park, Florida’s number one manatee refuge and natural wildlife habitat, offers a special full moon guided kayak tour on May 31. The park is home to hundreds of manatees, especially during the cooler months of November through March. The 72-degree waters of Blue Spring greet guests to this undiscovered gem on the St. Johns River. In addition to “sea cows,” the abundance of fish in the spring run attracts a variety of wading birds, ospreys, eagles, and kingfishers. A fantastic approach to see the wonders of the park is to walk along the 4.5-mile Pine Island Trail or the spring stream.
