Our marine life rescue center is home to Marine Life featured, in the Dolphin Tale movies, filmed on location in Clearwater, Florida — just 90 minutes from Orlando. Clearwater Marine Aquarium staff and volunteers work each day to rescue marine life and provide the most advanced and effective care to maximize the opportunity to return sick or injured animals to their homes.
Welcome, Izzy!
Clearwater Marine Aquarium is now the forever home to a new non-releasable juvenile bottlenose dolphin. Known as Izzy, the female dolphin was rescued in June of 2022 by NOAA partners – the Texas Marine Mammal Stranding Network, Texas State Aquarium, and SeaWorld San Antonio – after years of illegal human interaction in the wild caused her health to decline to the point of requiring intervention and medical attention.
CMA was chosen as Izzy’s forever home because of the animal care staff and veterinary team’s expertise in caring for bottlenose dolphins. Our team also has experience in working with animals who may have developed behaviors that result from human habituation. We hope that by sharing her story, we can help protect other wild dolphins from her fate.
We are happy to provide a forever home to this animal and give her the love and care she deserves.
11 Months with Apollo!
Recently, the Animal Care Team has been socializing Hemingway with Apollo. This socialization has many health benefits and will help us move to a fusion social grouping. We have seen positive interactions between the two and Hemingway have been more engaged and active with Apollo. Visit CMA for a chance to see these two together!

Enjoy extended hours filled with family fun activities, entertainment, and special moments with the resident animals you love as we say goodbye to 2022 and look forward to our next 50 years dedicated to marine life rescue and conservation together.
Honoring Winter’s Legacy
On November 11th we remembered Winter the Dolphin on the one-year anniversary of her passing. In honor of Winter and the legacy she left, we are pleased to announce the plans for Winter’s Memorial Garden at CMA.
Winter’s Memorial Garden will be located outside the main front entrance to CMA for public access. The garden and winding pathway will feature a statue of Winter as she emerges from a water fountain. Surrounded by sustainable Florida landscaping, the calming pathway invites guests along its pavers towards CMA’s entrance or to sit upon the benches flanking the statue and water feature.
The garden will be a quiet, inviting space that is accessible to all who may need a quiet moment of reflection and is planned for completion by the spring of 2023.

Experience the LARGEST Rescue Mission Ever!
Rescue, rehab and recover from extinction! Dinosaurs are being found and need help to survive! Luckily, the rescue team at CMA is ready and adapting to take care of these prehistoric creatures to provide the same care we offer all of our rescued animals!
Visit CMA now thru April and discover life-size dinosaurs during Dino Rescue. As you walk throughout the aquarium, encounter the dinosaurs, which move and roar, as they rehabilitate from various ailments today’s animals face – like habitat loss and entanglement. This limited-time experience will be included with general admission.
