DeLand Decks the Boulevard
Shop, dine and be entertained this Holiday Season in Downtown DeLand. America’s Main Street invites guests to relish in the splendor of the Holiday season while checking out all the local shops Downtown has to offer. From nutcracker scavenger hunts to uniquely decorated wreaths, this holiday season will be one to remember. The perfect way to start celebrating the holiday happenings in West Volusia.
Take a Ride on the Butler Express
Lake Helen’s Butler Express trolley takes guests around the town of Lake Helen to see as many Christmas decorations as possible. The Gem of Florida is on display with the route covering many of the town’s historic homes which give it its distinct charm.
The Butler Express runs from 6-9 p.m. Friday & Saturday nights until December 23.
Lake Helen Stress Buster 5k
Before taking a ride on the Butler Express, spend your morning participating in the annual Holiday Stress Buster 5K! The race consists of a Kids Run/Fun Run and 5K, with the route taking you around a beautiful, historic 3.10-mile route in Lake Helen.
The race starts at 8 a.m. on Thursday, December 24, 2020.
Holidays Go Plaid at Athen Theatre
In the historic Athens Theatre’s safely sanitized but cozy surroundings, nestle your family into an intimate little group to take in this year’s festive holiday offerings at the Athens: Stuart Ross’s musical silliness, Plaid Tidings.
Inspired by the “heavenly” Rosemary Clooney, familiar goofily comic characters from Forever Plaid return to earth and transform today’s dissonance and discord into mellifluous harmonies—sounds and songs appropriate for a season of brotherhood and joy.
This is a show for holiday theatergoers of all ages. Dates, times, and prices are listed on the Athen’s website. It is the perfect way to celebrate holiday happenings in West Volusia.
Christmases Past on Display at Florida Christmas Remembered
Every family will want to make this old-fashioned Christmas event an annual tradition. The Barberville Pioneer Settlement’s “A Florida Christmas Remembered” will take place on Saturday, December 14th, 2019 from 9 am to 4 pm.
Featuring appearances by Santa Claus, this fun event is for the kid in all of us. Children will be able to make and take crafts, live music, living history demonstrations, food, and more.
Blacksmiths, woodworking, weaving, spinning, pottery, letterpress printing demonstrations, and more will also be present at the Pioneer Settlement.
