Check out SEA-SPAN at the Florida Aquarium

Check out SEA-SPAN at the Florida Aquarium! Although The Florida Aquarium is closed now through May 10th, there is still plenty to see and do while we are socially distant from one another!

The Aquarium has started a brand new series called SEA-SPAN, which streams on Facebook Live Monday through Friday at 10:00 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time. CLICK HERE to watch

Lemurs

Tune in to see the many exciting things that the Aquarium is doing while we are closed to the public. You’ll see Mondays with Matt, a special drawing segment which is great to get kids and adults alike using their creative skills during these trying times. You’ll enjoy Tuesdays with Thom for AquaTunes! A special SEA-SPAN segment where our Entertainer Thom sings original songs he wrote for the Aquarium. The rest of the week takes a special behind the scenes look at different biologists doing animal feedings, gallery tours, food prep, animal enrichment and more!

Lemurs celebrate

You never know what could happen during our special daily broadcasts. And if you miss a live broadcast, they are stored and available “on-demand” at flaquarium.org. It is so important to us to provide SEA-SPAN as a resource to our community and beyond!

The Aquarium loves to provide you with fun, educational and engaging content during these tough times– something to look forward to during long stretches at home when visiting us is not currently possible. We will start a new series on April 6th called Escape Galapagos – Live Storytime with Dr. Ellen Prager. This Zoom to Facebook Live series will run on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday until April 24th. In this special series, Dr. Prager will read her book, which is aimed to educate middle school students and incorporate photos and videos using Zoom.

On top of all that content, the Aquarium is still posting regularly on its social media accounts, and if you want to be connected and know what is happening at the Aquarium while we are closed, follow us on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter at @FloridaAquarium. Our goal is to provide daily content for you.

While the Aquarium is closed, the staff still is working regularly. The health, safety, and wellbeing of our animals and staff is a top priority to the Aquarium. We work tirelessly to feed our animals, enrich their lives and keep things as normal as possible during these tough times. The Aquarium celebrated its 25th anniversary on March 31st, and even though we were not open to the public, we still had a little bit of fun with our penguins who received an ice cake.

Happy Anniversary

The Aquarium cannot wait to reopen our doors to guests and when we do, the celebration of our Anniversary will continue!

The Florida Aquarium has so much in store for our 25th Anniversary celebration. Guests can look forward to seeing a new exhibit, Washed Ashore, with rubbish turned into art; this thought-provoking installation is meant to increase awareness about our role in protecting our blue planet from too much waste.

PriscillaGreat White

New and refreshed exhibits are coming soon along with other surprises. Plus, a butterfly garden will be open next year!
