Bok Tower Blooms In Summer

Attention all afficianados of fantastic foliage…..Bok Tower Gardens will spend August saluting caladiums, the colorful heart-shaped plant so beloved by professional landscapers and amateurs gardeners alike. The Lake Wales attraction, famous for its beautiful natural setting has installed a special caladium trail for visitors to enjoy all month long (Note that this is a truly beautiful place year round!) and will be hosting plant-education events over the corse of the next several weeks.

The caladium trail will run from the Visitor Center to Pinewood Estate, featuring thousands of plants and more than 20 caladium varieties. The foliage generally presents itself in bursts of red, pink, rose, white, green and chartreuse.

Among the planned educations events are a talk about using the plants in home landscapes with third-generation caladium farmer Terri Bates (Aug. 1), a session with Robin Heath of Classic Caladiums (Aug. 8) and a walk along the caladium trail with master grower John Arnett (Aug. 15). Sessions run from noon to 1 p.m. and are included in regular admission.

Other elements of Bok Tower Gardens include the 205-foot-tall Singing Tower, topped with a 60-bell carillon, Hammock Hollow Children’s Garden, Kitchen Garden, the “window by the pond” and Pinewood Estate, which requires a separate ticket.
