Star Wars fans got a major New Years present from the Disney. A NEW sneak peek of Galaxy’s Edge, opening this summer! If you have dreamed of walking in a galaxy far, far away, plan your trip now, because those tickets are going to be going “.5 past light speed.”
At 14 acres each and reportedly well north of a billion dollars in cost, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge represent the biggest investment that Disney has made in a single themed land. Its goal is complete immersion within the Universe. Set in the Black Spire Outpost on the planet of Batuu, Galaxy’s Edge won’t feature popular characters such as Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Han Solo, or Darth Vader. Instead, YOU will be the protagonists in Galaxy’s Edge. It is a bit of a risk not setting the world in an established location within the canon, but let’s keep our fingers crossed that the risk will pay off.
Here is what we know FOR SURE about Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. It will feature two attractions:
Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, a motion base dark ride that will feature encounters with life-sized AT-ATs as well as with new trilogy villain Kylo Ren.
Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, an interactive motion base theater ride where six people will fly in the cockpit of the Millennium Falcon, each charged with carrying out specific tasks to make their mission a success.
