Read on to see why we think you should take some time to visit Daytona Beach on your Spring Holiday!
1. Art Galleries
You could spend hours wandering through locally owned art galleries in Ormond Beach. Better yet, make your own, one-of-a-kind souvenir out of painted pottery at Whim Wham Art Studio. Or, view the works of regional and local artists who are frequently featured at the Lee Gallery, a section of the expansive Mary McLeod Bethune Performing Arts Center at Bethune-Cookman University. The gallery is the permanent home to a collection of African art, as well as Central Floridian art.
2. Live Performances
Daytona Beach has many theaters, playhouses, and venues that will tantalize your cultural side. With the Peabody Auditorium, Athens Theatre, the Ocean Center and the Ormond Beach Performing Arts Center all within driving distance, there is sure to be something playing that will make you want to buy some tickets!
An entire day (or more!) could be spent soaking in the Museum of Arts & Sciences. This Smithsonian-affiliated museum is the area’s primary art, science and history museum featuring nationally-acclaimed collections, a state-of-the-art planetarium, and even a specified Children’s Museum. Then, head off to the Marine Science Center located at Ponce Inlet. It’s a hands-on experience where you can learn about local environmental and conservation efforts. Who said educational can’t be fun?
Of course, being in Florida, going to the beach in the Winter is not completely out of the question. The ocean may be a bit chilly, but pull up a blanket and an umbrella and enjoy the warm southern sunshine. Better yet, spend some time indoors at one of Daytona’s spa offerings including Remedy Spa at Pelican Bay in Daytona Beach, The Spa at Riverview in New Smyrna Beach, Daytona Beach Spa off East International Speedway Boulevard or The Shores Resort and Spa in Daytona Beach Shores. However you choose to relax, we promise you will feel rejuvenated and renewed.
