Opening Week At Universal’s Sapphire Falls Resort…

Orlando Attractions Update – Universal Orlando’s fifth on-property resort has officially opened its doors. Loews Sapphire Falls Resort greeted its first guests this week.

Sapphire Falls, located between the company’s Royal Pacific and Cabana Bay Beach resorts, carries a Caribbean theme. It has 1,000 rooms, bringing the total for Universal hotels to 5,200. It’s Universal Orlando’s first new hotel since Cabana Bay Beach Resort opened in 2014.

The initial guests to Sapphire Falls Resort were welcomed by a steel drum band, stilt walkers and streamers.

Among the resort’s amenities: Amatista Cookhouse restaurant; Strong Water Tavern (featuring 75 kinds of rum); and the largest swimming pool at Universal Orlando hotels. The pool measures 16,000 square feet and is surrounded by waterfalls.

The other two Universal hotels are Portofino Bay and the Hard Rock Hotel. The five Universal Orlando hotels are operated by Loews Hotels & Resorts, which owns and/or operates 26 hotels and resorts in the United States and Canada, including locations in Miami Beach, St. Petersburg, Atlanta, Chicago, Washington, D.C. and New York.
