Orlando Attractions Update – Krampus will be making its Halloween Horror Nights debut at Universal Studios next month.
News of the haunted-house maze, based on a 2015 movie, was shared in a post by London-based film journalist Paul Heath on The Hollywood News website. Universal Orlando confirmed the “Krampus” report Thursday afternoon.
The film, set at Christmastime, features a demonic force of evil that punishes nonbelievers, according to the International Movie Database. “All hell breaks loose as beloved holiday icons take on a monstrous life of their own, laying siege to the fractured family’s home and forcing them to fight for each other if they hope to survive,” according to the website’s plot summary.
Universal Orlando describes the Krampus character as “half-goat, half-demon.”
Universal Pictures’ “Krampus” starred Adam Scott (“Parks and Recreation”), Toni Collette and Emjay Anthony. The film was co-written and directed by Michael Dougherty, who will collaborate on the Universal project. “Krampus” made more than $60 million at the box office.
Universal has officially announced 2016 houses themed to “The Walking Dead,” “The Texas Chain Saw Massacre,” “The Exorcist” and Michael Myers in “Halloween.”
The Krampus house will be at HHN events in Orlando and in the Universal Studios theme park in Los Angeles.
The intense, after-hours event runs for 30 select nights between Sept. 16 and Oct. 31.
